Valentine’s Day has come and gone, but the topic of writing the perfect love songs from earlier in the week brought up a songwriting horror that we’d all like to avoid… Lyrical cliches!

One good way to turn a cliché into something else is to try and change some of the wording of the cliche into another idea.

For example, "Lost without you" could be "Found with you". A bit of a lame example I know but it gets you thinking of different ways to approach the same cliche.
